How to set up subsurface drip irrigation?

10/25/2017

Irrigation systems for landscaping are frequently installed improperly or don't even exist. This observation is from my years of experience in refurbishing the homeowner's properties. Fixing an improperly installed subsurface drip irrigation system is an extremely common requirement for most landscape remodelling projects. Here's how to set up an effective garden drip irrigation system.

Proper Planting Design

An under lawn irrigation system was designed based on the layout of the plants. Proper irrigation design is most beneficial when the planting design is performed with the irrigation design in mind. Plantings aren't only selected because of their form, condition and structure, but also for the quantity of sun they like. The idea of planting areas will dictate the way the irrigation system is set up.

Create Irrigation Areas Based on the Plantings

Zones enable the subsurface drip irrigation valves to deliver water at various durations and frequency. Thus an irrigation station or specific valve is focused on a particular area. Examples of areas would be forward lawn, rear grass, trees, leading shrubs, north shrubs, local place area, food garden, storage containers, etc. Remember that each one of these areas requires different levels of drinking water. Some require daily watering, others only one time per week.

Determine Valve Control Pack Location

Once you've a layout which zones should be irrigated, afterward you figure out where in fact the valves should be located. The control valves will desire a source of water, so where that point of connection is will affect the location of the control box. On newer homes, the mainline nourishing the home may have a pressure reducer and a series going into the home exposed outside of the home. Sometimes, they'll use a stub out fitted for link with the irrigation valves, if not, you will need to connect into that mainline and run a line to your valves.
